Deposit not refunded?
Has your rental ended and you have wrongly not received your deposit back? Then read on!
Try it yourself first
You will recover your deposit the fastest and most economically by asking for it yourself in writing. If that doesn’t work, send a registered letter at least once. You can download an example with explanation here.
In the registered letter (you may also send it by registered e-mail, as long as the proof of receipt is reliable) you also claim interest and debt collection costs.
What if my ex-landlord fails to return my deposit even after a registered letter?
Then it is time to engage us. Be sure to check our fees page to see if you are eligible for government-subsidised legal aid or discounts on our hourly rate, otherwise hiring a lawyer could well be more expensive than what it pays for.

Offered a settlement agreement to end your labour agreement? Read this before you sign!
When your employer offers you a settlement agreement (a severance package), it’s crucial to fully understand what you’re agreeing to. Otherwise, you risk unknowingly signing away important rights. These agreements can involve complex terms and hidden risks, especially if you’re not familiar with Dutch labour law.
For years, we have been assisting expats and employees in the Netherlands in understanding and optimising their settlement agreements.
Get a specialist review for a fixed fee
One of our experienced lawyers will thoroughly review your settlement agreement, for a fixed fee of €695 (including VAT). We’ll identify potential risks, highlight areas for improvement, and ensure you are fully informed of your rights.
When you’re offered a settlement agreement, you’re in a strong position to negotiate. Employers are often open to reasonable changes, especially if you’re well-informed. With our help, you’ll be better prepared to make those requests.
We pay special attention to common pitfalls expats face when ending employment in the Netherlands: issues that often go unnoticed due to unfamiliarity with local practices.
How It Works
